Poland – Rare Upper Silesian Cross on Sash by W. Wabinski – 1924 Design, Exceptional Condition
The Upper Silesian Cross (Krzyż Górnośląski) was awarded by the Second Polish Republic to commemorate the Upper Silesian Uprisings (1919–1921)—a series of nationalist insurrections by Poles seeking to join the newly reconstituted Poland after World War I. The decoration honored veterans and civilians who supported or participated in the struggle.
Crafted by renowned Polish maker Wiktor Wabinski, this version is a particularly rare and finely made example, featuring rich blue enamel, intricate silvered detailing, and an impressive ribbon sash. The reverse bears the inscription:
