Medal Design:

White enameled Maltese-style cross with red translucent enamel panels between the arms, surrounded by decorative openwork elements.
Central medallion features the Romanian royal crown, with the inscription “PRIN NOI INSINE – 14 MARTIE 1881” on the obverse and “10 MAIU 1881” on the reverse.

Condition:

Good original condition. Enamel shows age-related wear with visible cracks and small losses, consistent with period use. Original ribbon present, showing wear and age but complete. Metal surfaces show natural patina.

Historical and Collectible Significance:

The Order of the Crown of Romania was established in 1881 to commemorate the proclamation of the Kingdom of Romania.

Note on “10 MAIU”:
“10 MAIU” (10 May) refers to 10 May 1881, the official date of the proclamation of Romania as a kingdom and the coronation period of King Carol I. This date was one of the most important national holidays in the Kingdom of Romania.

The Commander Cross was awarded to senior officers, officials, and foreign dignitaries, making it a highly collectible grade of this historic Romanian order.
